Panga fishing for Dorado in Loreto

On a recent trip down the Baja peninsula to Loreto , my friends and I had the opportunity to head out on a panga to fish for the famous dorado of the Sea of Cortez. Lodging was secured at the oceanfront Hotel Oasis near downtown Loreto.  Sunrise over the Sea of Cortez We chartered Arturo's Sport Fishing for an early morning (6am) fishing adventure the next day. The owner, Arturo Susarrey, and family have been providing fishing trips since 1983 and came recommended. After getting our fishing license, paying our fees and picking up bait fish we were off. Within an hour or so we were on a dorado. Our captain positioned us nicely and after 45 minutes of sore-armed fighting we had our first catch. Within 15 minutes or so, we had the next hit for another of our group. An hour-long battle, led to our second, and last, dorado of the day. We had landed a 42 and 44 lb. dorado. Fish on!
